Lenten Schedule 2008

Wednesday, February 6:

7:00 p.m.: Ash Wednesday Service with the Lafayette and Erie Methodist Churches. This meaningful service will be at Lafayette UMC and includes the imposition of ashes and special choral music with our combined choirs!

Sundays, February 10 – March 9:

8:00 & 10:30 a.m.: Worship & Sermon Series – “Pilgrim’s Progress”

9:15 a.m.: Sunday School for all ages

Tuesdays, February 12 - March 11:

6:30 p.m.: Lenten series with soup and sandwich supper. Video series “From Jesus to Christ” for adults and youth.

Children’s activities in the upstairs classrooms.

Palm Sunday, March 16:

8:00 & 10:30 a.m.: Worship Services with Children’s Parade and Choir Cantata

9:00 a.m.: Sunday School for all ages

Tuesday, March 18:

6:30 p.m.: Traditional Passover Meal and Seder Service in Fellowship Hall led by Rabbi Marc Soloway from Synagogue Bonai Shalom in Boulder (complete with a delicious kosher meal)

Maundy Thursday, March 20:

7:00 p.m.: Maundy Thursday service with the Lafayette and Erie Methodist Churches; will be held at Erie UMC.

Good Friday, March 21:

7:00 p.m.: Tenebrae Service (Service of Darkness). This dramatic service is based on the “Last Seven Words” of Jesus on the cross. Includes the extinguishing of candles, special music, and the tolling of the bell. This is a joint service with the Lafayette and Erie United Methodist Churches and will be held at our church.

Easter Sunday, March 23:

6:00 a.m.: Ecumenical Easter Sunrise Service at Memory Square Park

8:00 & 10:30 a.m.: Special Easter Services with special music from the choir, and a sanctuary beautifully decorated with special banners and Easter lilies!

9:00 - 10:30 a.m.: All-Church Easter Breakfast organized by the Family Life Committee

9:30 a.m.: Children’s Sunday School (focusing on the Easter message)

10:10 a.m.: Children’s Easter Egg Hunt
